"Jason Bourne" is Everything You Want It To Be, Shaky Cam and All

Image
You know his name. Bourne. Jason Bourne. The most dangerous former CIA operative is back people! Man, I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time. I pride myself on my movie news knowledge, but I'll be honest when I say that I had no idea this movie was coming until I saw the debut trailer during the Super Bowl. My jaw dropped! Jason Bourne is one of the coolest action characters to date, and Matt Damon has solidified himself as an action icon with this franchise. Though there are many spy-franchise characters to boot (i.e. James Bond, Ethan Hunt, etc), Jason Bourne is one of the more interesting ones of the bunch. The Bourne Trilogy is one of my favorite trilogies; the stories are so fluid and the movies themselves are so much fun to watch. In fact, in preparation for Jason Bourne , I spent this week rewatching the trilogy, minus the Jeremy Renner one. I hadn't seen them in a long time, and I had forgotten just how good they really are. "Star Trek Beyond" Is Some of the Most Fun You'll Have at the Movies this Summer

The third installment in the newly rebooted Star Trek franchise Star Trek Beyond hits theaters today and let me just start by saying that this third film is the best of the three. Hands down. Now, that was a hard decision to come to. I thoroughly enjoy these new Star Trek films. 2009's Star Trek blew me away, being able to capture the magic of Star Trek while infusing new blood into the franchise. Star Trek Into Darkness , though received with mixed reviews, was epic, fun and heightened the awesomeness from the first one. The biggest complaint I've heard is that with the use of altering the timeline in the first movie, giving  you the opportunity to tell new stories, the re-hashing of Khan was underwhelming. Beyond is very much its own story. It's a blast. The cast is great, the production is wonderful, and with J.J. Abrams involved in any form or fashion, you can't go wrong. Since he switched over to the Star Wars universe, Abrams has relinquished his director

BREAKING NEWS: THE NEW "Ghostbusters" DOESN'T SUCK!!

Image
No other movie in recent history has been met with such a mix of hostile and timid response than the reboot of Ghostbusters . From nostalgia-filled sexists who feel that an all women cast is blasphemy, to out-right, raged-induced fans who feel that the original is an untouchable masterpiece, the Paul Feig directed re-telling has a huge hill to climb for movie-goers. This negativity isn't a new thing, spawning just prior to its release. From the moment they announced that the third ever Ghostbusters movie was going to be an all-female cast reboot, the internet was ablaze with spooky hate. In fact, the first trailer for the movie has made history for being the most hated video on YouTube. So, as the release date crept ever closer, the question still remained: Does the finished product warrent this level of negativity? My answer: Absolutely NOT.     For quite some time, no thanks to the trailers, no one knew if this movie was a reboot or a continuation. If a trailer can

Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe Shine in the Oddity that is "Swiss Army Man"

Finally, the time has come that I can sit and write about this movie. I first heard about Swiss Army Man when reading about the entries from Sundance many months ago. It was a film that garnered reactions on both ends of the spetrum: people gave it a stading ovation, and some walked out in disgust. This intrigued me, even before knowing what the premise of the film was. Then I read the premise: a man stranded on an island, at the brink of giving up the ghost, befriends a farting corpse that has mystical powers that could possibly help him get home. Freakin' bonkers, right?! When the first trailer dropped, I was completely beside myself, questioning what I just saw...and how long it would be before I got to see the remaining movie. I ventured out tonight as excited to see this movie as I was for some of the year's early blockbusters. No joke, I wanted to see this movie as much as I wanted to see Batman v Superman or Captain America: Civil War . It hooked it's barbs o
